Chelsea’s victory in the London derby against Tottenham was overshadowed by objects being thrown at Antonio Rudiger from the far end at Stamford Bridge. Metropolitan Police have confirmed the two men have been arrested.

The match was paused as Rudiger collected and removed items from the pitch that were aimed at him, as enquiries, in conjunction with Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC, continues to identify anyone else involved in throwing objects during the match. Tottenham has promised to work in hand with Chelsea to review the footage and take appropriate action.

The Blues won the match 2-0 courtesy of second-half goals from Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva. Ziyech’s wonder strike and Silva’s header handed Chelsea their third win over Hotspurs in the month, after victories in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said his side were resilient and deserved to win 2-0 against Tottenham in the Premier League. Earlier on, the Blues boss had released a message over the week after Chelsea beefed up security and rules after several recent pitch invasions.

Speaking prior to Sunday’s visit to Tottenham, Antonio Rudiger said he was fully committed to the cause and finds it easy to not let his contract situation affect his form on the pitch. After being hit by an object thrown from the crowd, Tuchel admitted English football needed to safeguard its interaction between players, coaches and fans.

Tuchel further said if that was a new trend, then there is a need to act together to make sure that it stops as soon as possible, to protect the fantastic environment and unique atmosphere of England. Harry Kane’s first-half goal at Chelsea was disallowed and it was however branded ‘incredible’ by Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.

Spurs boss was left stunned by the decision to rule out Harry Kane’s goal at Chelsea before Tottenham succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge – the Italian’s first league defeat in charge of Spurs. Second-half goals from Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva saw Chelsea finally make their dominance count as Thomas Tuchel’s side ended a four-game winless run in the Premier League to consolidate their position in the top four.

Besides, Spurs felt they should have been ahead at the break when Kane tucked a shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga at the end of a rare counter, only for referee Paul Tierney to disallow the effort for a shove on Chelsea defender Thiago Silva in the build-up.

Harry Kane thought he had put Tottenham ahead against Chelsea but it was chalked off for a foul on Thiago Silva in the build-up. Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel was surprised to see Kane’s effort ruled out, despite not seeing the incident in real-time.

The Blues were inspired to victory by Ziyech’s stunning long-range curler, which the Morocco international rated as “10 out of 10”.His stunning performance was just as good as his goal according to Tuchel, who narrated that it was a very nice goal actually, the build-up was good, with brilliant movement.
