Zambia has launched its 2020 FIFA Under-17 Women World Cup qualifying campaign with a victory over South Africa on Friday.

Zambia won this first leg tie played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, with first-half goals scored by Esther Banda and Dorica Malunga, Lusaka Times reported.

Malunga put the home side in front after 18 minutes with Banda’s goal coming three minutes away from the half-time break.

The second-round match would be played in South Africa on March 14.

The winner over the two legs qualifies to the final round of qualifiers in May, where they would face either Zimbabwe or Botswana, to determine who goes to the India World Cup in November.
