Algeria bask in winning streak with 1-0 win over Botswana - Sports Leo

Algeria scored a 1-0 win over Botswana in their CAF Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier on Monday evening.

The only goal came after Youcef Belaili’s sumptuous curling corner kick in the 14th minute evaded the defence and sailed straight the nets.

Botswana finished the match with 10 men after Gape Gaogangwe was sent off for a second yellow-card offence six minutes from the end.

Belaili had a blinder of a game Algeria’s 5-0 win over Zambia last week has now scored in successive games as the reigning African champions continued their campaign to reach Cameroon 2021.

With this victory, Algeria now have six points and top Group H and will continue their Afcon campaign next year.

Botswana who are coached by Belgian-born Algerian coach Adel Amrouche are in third place after a single point from their goalless draw with Zimbabwe last Friday.

Zimbabwe and Zambia face off on Tuesday in the other Group H match.
