Pep Munoz is a Spanish football manager who in his early coaching days, had the opportunity to coach at La Masia, Barcelona’s youth academy. He coached some of the talented players in Barcelona, the likes of Adam Traore, Patrick Gabarron, Grimaldo, and Munir El Haddadi among other top stars.
Munoz has vast knowledge of sports as he studied sports science, which likely fuels his coaching aspirations. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Activity Science and Sport at the University of Lleida in Spain, specializing in football and physical education.
That was not the end as he also advanced his studies with a master’s degree in high performance in football from Las Rozas, Madrid that was likely sponsored by the Spanish Football Federation.
In addition, he achieved the prestigious UEFA Pro License from the RFEF, the highest coaching qualification in Europe in 2013. After this, he started his career journey in coaching and started coaching youth teams.
His experience goes beyond Spain and he has also ventured into the Chinese Super League when it was growing, where he played with established players like Marouane Fellaini and Graziano Pelle.
He is currently the head coach of Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng in Cambodia and he has contributed to its success especially leading them to a league championship in 2023.

This degree provides a solid foundation in exercise physiology, biomechanics and other sports science principles relevant to coaching. He specialized in Football and Physical education during the last years of his program, an indication that he focused his interest in applying his knowledge to the specific demands of football.
Munoz did not stop his education on achieving the degree, he advanced his studies and acquired a Master’s degree in High Performance in Football from Las Rozas, Madrid, a sponsorship that was offered by the Spanish Football Federation.

Munoz coaching career
His coaching career was well prepared from his education into application. Munoz was well prepared to embrace challenges and growth as in his first years, he began as a fitness coach before transitioning into a coaching role fully.
His first step as a coach was managing youth teams, where he landed at Barcelona’s La Masia academy, an experience that was valuable in developing his talent identification and player development skills.
He then became an assistant coach at the FC Barcelona in Spain and this was a learning spot from experienced coaches at the club, gaining valuable insight on players management and the philosophy of one of the most successful clubs in Spain.
He made another international move that landed him in China with the Chinese Super league, working as an assistant coach for different teams. This experience was an exposure to a new footballing culture that involved managing experienced players.
His play style and tactics earned him another assistant role with the Chinese national teams, as he could adapt to different levels of the game and he understood international football strategies.

Working as an assistant coach has also brought his knowledge to a new football environment that benefited the teams as well as his own development by adapting to a different style of play in different leagues.
Heading the Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng to a league championship in Cambodia in 2023 is his recent contribution and this demonstrates his ability to lead teams even in foreign territories.
