Mostafa Fathi is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays as a winger for the Egyptian Premier League and the Egypt national team and is part of the squad playing at the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
The winger was born in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt where his passion for football blossomed at a young age. He started his professional journey with the Egyptian club Meet Mazzah and while playing for the club, he attracted the attention of Belkas, a club in the Egyptian Second Division where he continued honing his skills.
His career took a turn when he joined the Egyptian club Zamalek where he played for four seasons, established himself as a key player for the White Knights and contributed significantly to the team’s success, helping them secure numerous trophies including the Egyptian Premier League twice, and the Egypt Cup titles five times.
Seeking new challenges, he embarked on a loan spell to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun, where he gained valuable experience in a different footballing environment. His tenure with the club was brief and opt to return to Egypt, joining Pyramids FC permanently.
Internationally, he has been a key player for the Egypt national team and was part of the squad that participated in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He recently came in as a substitute for Mohammed Salah at the 2024 AFCON when Salah suffered an injury.

However, some athletes choose to pursue secondary education alongside their training. In this case, Fathi’s professional career started quite early and he might have prioritized football, potentially completing his education later.

The winger took part in the 2024 AFCON tournament when he came in as a substitute for Mohammed Salah after an injury when Egypt was playing against Ghana during the group stage, a match that ended in a draw.
He also played for Egypt’s second group stage match against Cape Verde on January 22nd 2024, with Egypt being the winner in a 1-0 victory.
