James Maddison

It’s simple to overlook the fact that James Maddison’s time with the north Londoners is still in its early stages given how comfortable he has so far looked in a Spurs jersey. At the time it was finalized, Maddison’s departure from the league’s bottom-dwelling Leicester appeared like a surprise; that opinion will only have grown in light of his outstanding start in the capital.

In his first five league games for Spurs, Maddison registered two goals and two assists, making the playmaker feel right at home in Ange Postecoglou’s exciting system. He was voted the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August.

Following Harry Kane’s departure, Maddison was selected as joint vice-captain of Spurs, demonstrating the impact he has already had in his new environment. Spurs fans have yearned for a squad that challenges opponents and attacks with purpose, traits that have characterized Postecoglou’s strategy thus far. To date, Madison’s creative spirit has suited that concept like a glove.

James Ward-Prowse

Although the more casual Hammers fan is increasingly admiring the midfielder’s other, underrated qualities, Ward-Prowse’s all-around game has frequently been underestimated due to his brilliance from a dead ball.

The England international and Edson Alvarez did a fantastic job of filling the space left by Rice’s club-record exit, thus the 28-year-old has been an excellent signing for a West Ham team looking to replace the Declan Rice-shaped hole in their midfield.

The former captain of Southampton has scored or provided an assist in each of his five games for West Ham, adding experience, vigor, and a greater goal threat from midfield.

In those five games, Ward Prowse has already scored two goals and provided five assists, including a league-high four assists from set-piece opportunities in all competitions.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai has shown to be a superior substitute for Jude Bellingham, who some Liverpool supporters may still be envious of Real Madrid for acquiring during the summer.

Szoboszlai has quickly established himself as a fan favorite at Liverpool and an essential part of Jurgen Klopp’s revamped squad, starting each of the Reds’ first five Premier League games of the current campaign.

The Hungarian has been nonstop this season, placing sixth in the Premier League for miles traveled. His most recent lung-busting surge, against Wolves, was the third-fastest pace in the division since 2020/21. He is very explosive.

The elements are in place for him to be the focal point of Klopp’s midfield if you factor in his technical prowess and capacity for confident, quick ball movement.

Moussa Diaby

Since leaving Paris Saint-Germain for the Bundesliga, where he scored 97 goals and provided 78 assists in 178 games for Leverkusen, Diaby has excelled. With two goals and two assists in only five games, the France international is off to a scorching start at Villa Park.

Diaby already established strong relationships with a lot of his teammates, and he had the explosiveness and dribbling skills to thrill the Holte End. The 24-year-old never had a season in Germany with fewer than 10 goal involvements, and in 32 league games in 2021–2022, he set a career-best with 25 goals and assists.

Anywhere near that return, Diaby will be one of Villa’s season-defining additions, bringing real talent to Unai Emery’s aspirational team.

Declan Rice

Declan Rice was acquired by Arsenal from West Ham during the summer transfer window, shattering their previous record. Manchester City was also interested in the England midfielder, but Arsenal prevailed.

Rice cost the Gunners £105 million, and the record signing has already contributed to Arsenal’s perfect start to the Premier League season.

Prior to providing a memorable moment with his first Arsenal goal, scored in the 96th minute to earn a victory over Manchester United at the Emirates, Rice was named man of the match in the victory over Crystal Palace.
