Yewande Balogun is a Nigerian-American professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the French Division 2 Feminine club AS Saint-Etienne and the Nigeria women’s national team.

The player was born in the United States to Nigerian parents and played college soccer for the University of Maryland where she was a two-time All-American.

The goalkeeper began her professional career with the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer and spent two seasons with the club before she left for France to play for FC Fleury.

She then joined Montpellier HSC where she played for four seasons before she signed for AS Saint-Etienne.

Balogun was born to Nigerian parents and is thus eligible to play for the Nigeria women’s national team where she has been capped for five years. She was part of the Nigerian squad that competed at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The player attended Springbrook High School in Silver Spring where she was a two-time All-Met selection and led her team to a state championship.

Balogun then attended the University of Maryland where she studied kinesiology and played college soccer for the Maryland Terrapins.

She was a two-time All-American and was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team becoming a SoccerBuzz Freshman All-American.

The goalkeeper is the Maryland Terrapins career leader in goals against average and is tied for second in shutouts.

The player was born on February 8 1991 in Silver Spring, Maryland to Nigerian parents. She started playing soccer at a very young age and became a standout goalkeeper throughout her youth career.
