Amile Jefferson is an American basketball coach and a former player, currently an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association.

Jefferson played basketball for the Duke Blue Devils where he served as a captain. Back in high school, he played high school basketball at Friends Central School.

At Duke, he played for four seasons where he became a starter, helping the Blue Devils win an NCAA championship.

Amile was not drafted in the NBA and signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves as a free agent and played for their NBA G League affiliate. The following season, he also played for the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Amile Jefferson’s Educational Background

Jefferson is a highly educated individual who attended Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia and was a McDonald’s All-American and consensus five-star recruit. He then committed to play college basketball at Duke over offers from Kentucky, UCLA and Villanova.

He attended Duke University where he majored in history, minored in Christian studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.

Immediately after his graduation, the player enrolled for a master’s class at Duke Divinity School where he earned a master’s in Christian Studies.

His educational background is impressive and is an indication that he is committed to his career, studies and faith.

Personal Life

Amile Jefferson was born on May 7 1993 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father is Malcolm Musgrove and his mother, is Quetta Jefferson. His father is a former basketball player at Delaware State.

Jefferson has six siblings, two brothers and four sisters. The player attended Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia where he became a McDonald’s All-American and a consensus five-star recruit and committed to play college basketball at Duke over offers from Kentucky, UCLA and Villanova.

At Duke, Jefferson played for four seasons helping the Blue Devils win the NCAA championship. He became a three-time All-ACC honoree and was named to the  All-ACC Academic Team four times.

After graduating from Duke, he was not drafted into the NBA and played as a free agent for the Minnesota Timberwolves their NBA G League affiliate, he also played for the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jefferson later signed with Galatasaray where he played for two seasons before he returned to the United States to join the Boston Celtics’ coaching staff.

Jefferson is married to Chelsea Grain, a speech-language pathologist and he is a devout Christian.

He is best known for his work ethic and ability to connect with players which almost gives an assurance that his coaching career with Boston Celtics will be successful.
