- Carlos Alcaraz put up a brave fight against Novak Djokovic
- He won the 2023 Wimbledon men’s singles in the most unpredictable match of the year
- Alcaraz now makes history as the second youngest tennis player to win the coveted Grand Slam at 20
Carlos Alcaraz put up a brave fight against Novak Djokovic to win the 2023 Wimbledon men’s singles.
The 20-year-old Spaniard ended Djokovic’s winning streak at the All England club with a 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory in Sunday’s finals.
Djokovic was unsuccessful in his attempt to win an eighth Wimbledon Grand Slam which would have surpassed Roger Federer’s record of seven Wimbledon wins.
Alcaraz is now the second youngest tennis player to win the coveted Grand Slam at 20. The legendary Boris Becker first won the Grand Slam at Wimbledon he was 18 years old in 1986.
It is a significant feat for the Spaniard who had doubts about defeating Djokovic at the beginning of this tournament.

However, his world No. 1 ranking gave him a lot of hope and he moved past indomitable tennis players to the finals where he made history.
While in doubt about making history at Wimbledon, he cited his inexperience in grass courts as a major deal-breaker. However, he is a fast learner and he proved to his guts that he can do everything his heart and mind is into.
Ultimately, he bagged a second Grand Slam after a high-stake match that was widely anticipated and very unpredictable. His recent victory keeps him as the world’s top-seeded tennis player while Djokovic settles for world No.3.
