Mubarak Wakaso was born on July 25 1990 in Tamale, Ghana. As the norm in Ghana, football begins at an early age and he was not an exception to playing street football in the neighbourhood.
He then joined the Ashanti Gold SC youth team at a young age making his professional debut and established himself as a key player.
He is known to be a versatile midfielder with energy, passing ability and long-range shooting who is a strong tackler and a good dribbler.

Career
Wakaso began his career with Ashanti Gold SC in his native land Ghana. He then moved to Spain to join Elche CF where he made his La Liga debut helping the club avoid relegation.
Despite his performance at the club, he was faced with several disciplinary issues that made him get released from the club.
The midfielder then joined Villarreal CF’s B team, where he impressed enough to earn a promotion to the first team, making over 100 appearances and scoring 11 goals.
After a two-year stay at Villarreal, he moved to Celtic on loan helping the club win the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup in the first season, signing a permanent contract with Celtic.
Wakaso also played for Panathinaikos on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee and a few months later, he was loaned to Spanish top-flight side Granada CF.
He mutually terminated his contract at Panathinaikos and on the same day, he signed a three-year contract with Alaves who transferred him to Jiangsu Suning F.C, then to Shenzhen F.C one year after.

Mubarak represented Ghana in one World Cup tournament and two Africa Cup of Nations. He was to participate in the 2022 World Cup but missed the squad due to disciplinary issues.
