Early Life
On May 12, 1988, Marcelo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began playing football at an early age and, at the age of 13, he enrolled in the Fluminense youth program.
His parents were middle-class parents. His mother, Maria das Graças da Silva, was a teacher, and his father, Marcelo Vieira da Silva, was a firefighter. He is also well known for having a tight relationship with his family, with his brother Juliano acting as his agent for many years.
He rapidly made a name for himself as one of the academy’s most gifted players, and he was soon promoted to the first squad.

In 2005, Marcelo made the transition from the Fluminense junior team to the senior squad, where he played for two seasons. Real Madrid, CSKA, and Sevilla football clubs all took notice of his special offensive ability. He signed up with Real Madrid, a Spanish football team, in 2007. On January 7, 2007, he played his first game for Real Madrid against Deportivo La Corua, and by April he was already starting.
Due to a bad injury in 2013, he was unable to participate in any games. Due to a hamstring injury, he was unable to participate in La Liga.
In September 2017, Real Madrid renewed his contract. He will continue to play with the national team until 2022.
Over the course of his 16-year stay with Los Blancos, he made 546 appearances and scored 38 goals. Marcelo has won multiple awards while playing for Real Madrid, including six La Liga championships, five UEFA Champions League crowns, and four FIFA Club World Cup crowns.
Marcelo signed a deal with Olympiacos of the Super League Greece on September 3, 2022, but he ended it five months later. The 23rd of February 2023 saw him return to Fluminense.

Prior to making his professional debut in 2006 in a friendly against Wales, Marcelo played for the Brazilian national team at several youth levels. He was a member of both the Brazilian squad that took fourth place in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which Brazil hosted, and the Brazilian team that won the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013.
In the 2012 Summer Olympics, Marcelo competed and brought home a silver medal for his country. Additionally, he took part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, leading his nation in the opening match of the group stages. Marcelo’s final game for Brazil came against Belgium in the quarterfinals, which resulted in his exclusion from subsequent teams.
