Lawrence Ati-Zigi is a Ghanaian professional football player whose current net worth is between $3 m-$5m having earned it from his successful career.

The goalkeeper represented Ghana at the Under-17 and Under-20 levels and was part of the Ghana squad that played at the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He was the starting goalkeeper for Ghana in their World Cup campaign.

Zigi was born on November 26, 1996, in Accra, Ghana and started playing football at a young age, then joined Right to Dream Football Academy at 14 years.

Career

He joined Red Bull Salzburg from Ghanaian feeder club Red Bull Ghana, immediately being loaned out to Leifering who play in the Australia 2. Liga.

After his debut at Liefering,  he played in six consecutive league matches. He made the Red Bull Salzburg match day squad twice, and as a result, he earned a medal as Salzburg won Austrian Football Bundesliga.

He then moved to Sochaux- Montbeliard on a three-year contract where he reunited with his former coach Peter Zeidler from Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg making his debut in a Coupe de la Ligue in a match against Valenciennes.

The goalkeeper joined Swiss club FC St. Gallen and signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with his contract, making his debut against FC Lugano in the Swiss Super League.

In a league match against Lugano, he was subjected to racist chants from the opponent’s fan base. After the match, Lugano issued a statement and apology through social media.

He then signed a new two-year contract with the Swiss club which is going to run till 2025.

Ati-Zigi was a member of the Ghana national under-17 team playing for the 2013 African U-17 Championship. He was then promoted to the Ghana under-20 side.

He earned a place in the final squad for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup and received his first call-up to the Ghana senior national team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification games.

The player was part of the Ghanaian team in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations which was eliminated at the group stage of the competition.

Ati-Zigi was named in the 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup where he played as the first-choice goalkeeper though they were eliminated at the group stage. He made his world cup debut with crucial saves which secured Ghana’s first win at the 2022 World Cup.

His performance earned him positive reviews, ratings and commendations from football fans across the world.

Zigi was crowned as The Best Player for the first round of the 2022-23  Swiss Super League campaign and was the first shot-stopper in Qatar. Despite his country’s exit from the tournament in the group stage, his performance was impressive.

Ever since joining ST. Gallen from French side FC Sochaux, his consistent performance has a big reputation in the Swiss top flight, having played 14 games and 58 saves putting him second in the Super League.
