He has an elder brother Pau Gasol who is also a professional basketball player. He is also a cousin to former NBA player Juan Carlos Navarro.
Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, the family relocated to Memphis after his elder brother Pau joined the Memphis Grizzlies. In high school, the center played high school basketball and was nicknamed “the big Burrito.”
At a tender age, Gasol began playing basketball and has since played for Barcelona Youth before relocating to the United States of America to attend the University of Memphis.

Career

The player was then selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA draft and then to Memphis Grizzlies where he set a rookie record for goals, earning NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors.
Gasol put down another contract with Grizzlies, a four-year deal worth $58 million, then it was extended by five years for a fee of $110 million becoming the team’s all-time career rebound leader.
After 11 years at Memphis, Gasol was traded to the Toronto Raptors helping them become the NBA’s top 3-point shooting team. A few months after joining Toronto, he exercised his player option of $25.6 million.
At Toronto, he won over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The player signed a contract with Los Angeles Lakers and when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the World, he missed some games on contracting the disease.
