She is the second longest serving member of the team and is close to becoming one of the three women to make 200 appearances for City. The only two player who have featured more times for City than her are Steph Houghton and Keira Walsh. The latter is currently playing for FC Barcelona.
Demi Stokes has so far made 199 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City. Stokes’ influence on her teammates has remained important over the years despite a difficult 2022-23 campaign.
Speaking after extending her contract, Stokes said that she was really happy to remain at Manchester City. The England international believes that the contract renewal will motivate her to work hard this summer for next season’s campaign.
“I’m really happy to have signed a new deal and I can’t wait to get going again. Given how last season was for me personally, I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to keep doing what I love doing, and that’s playing for Manchester City. It was a difficult season for me last year, but I feel like this will be a reset button. I’ll be working hard throughout the summer on everything, and I’m really looking forward to next season.” Demi Stokes said after extending her contract, as per Manchester City’s official website.
Manchester City’s head coach Gareth Taylor said that the club was pleased with the fact that Stokes has signed a new deal. Taylor said that Stones has been of great importance to the team behind-the-scenes.
“We’re really pleased that Demi has extended her stay with the Club. Her experience is hugely valued here at Manchester City, and although this past season has been a little up and down for her on the pitch, she has remained an important part of our team behind-the-scenes.” Gareth Taylor is quoted by Manchester City’s website.
Since joining Manchester City, Demi Stokes has helped the club win seven major honours and has been included in the PFA Team of the Year twice. She has won one Barclays Women’s Super League title, three Women’s FA Cups and three Continental Tyres League Cups.
