Traore began his career as a street football then to Rahimo conceiving his career in the youth ranks of Rahimo FC in his hometown of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso where he was scouted by club Ajax and flown to South Africa.

He was stalled at the clubs’ satellite club Ajax Cape Town until he was old enough to legally transfer to Amsterdam.
The player moved to Europe joining Ajax on a three-and-a-half-year contract and finished as the top scorer of the reserves team before departing for the Netherlands.
He made his debut in the final seconds of their win over Ultecht in the league and was named n the bench for the first time in Ajax’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA champions league semi-finals.
He waited to play for his next first team as a late substitute in a win over Feyenoord for five months and then scored five goals, and a further 3 assists in a record-breaking league victory over VVV-Venlo. In a European competition draw away to Atlanta, the player earned a penalty kick and first goal in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
