Dejan Kulusevski’s burst into a risky area gave Tottenham an early chance to score against Brentford, but Bees goalkeeper David Raya was always comfortable with the attacker’s effort.

Both teams committed a lot of men forward in the early minutes, with Mbeumo then lifting one over the Tottenham crossbar in the fourth minute. Raya then easily denied a Kane goal.

In the eighth minute of the game, Tottenham took the lead thanks to a fantastic goal from Kane, who picked out the top corner after Kulusevski had sent a short free kick into his path.

After another quick counterattack by Ryan Mason’s team, who appeared capable of scoring every time they broke forward, Son Heung-min’s shot was deflected wide by Raya in the 12th minute.

In the 24th minute, Rico Henry’s brilliant defense kept Tottenham from scoring a second goal.

When Son sent a deft cross onto the head of Arnaut Danjuma late in the first quarter, the striker came within inches of increasing Spurs’ lead, but his header went just past of the far post.

Son’s goal-bound shot was then brilliantly blocked by Ben Mee, and Raya then made a good save to deny Kulusevski. Despite having given up several chances, Brentford was still only down one goal at the break.

Early in the second half, the visitors tied the game thanks to a fantastic goal from Mbeumo, who created some space inside the Spurs area before blasting the ball into the bottom corner.

In the 56th minute, Kane hoisted a shot over the crossbar down the other end following deft work with Kulusevski. Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster then stopped a shot from Mbeumo.

After sprinting onto an Aaron Hickey ball in the 62nd minute, Mbeumo gave Brentford the lead with another fantastic finish into the bottom corner.

After holding off the subsequent wave of pressure, the Bees secured the victory in the 88th minute when Wissa received a pass from Mbeumo and finished into the back of the goal.

Richarlison’s strong header and Kane’s effort were both stopped by Raya in the last seconds of the second half, while Pedro Porro likewise had a goal-bound shot blocked.

But Brentford persevered to win four of their last five games, and they will now try to add another success to their record when they play Manchester City on Sunday in the season’s final league game.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will play Leeds United away for their last Premier League game in an effort to guarantee European competition for the next year.
