Manchester United advanced to the FA Cup final after a penalty shootout victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Red Devils were outplayed for most of the normal and extra time at Wembley Stadium, but they were able to hold on until a penalty shootout.

Following Solly March’s mistake, Victor Lindelof was able to convert a game-winning penalty kick after the first 12 penalties were all converted.

David De Gea

Following a rather hopeless showing in the Europa League on Thursday evening, De Gea was quickly back to his best on Sunday against Brighton.

The goalkeeper set the tone for what was a phenomenal performance inside the opening five minutes when he tipped an Alexis Mac Allister free kick over the bar, and he continued that form throughout the game.

De Gea was later on hand to deny Julio Encisco from close range in the second half and showed his braveness by storming off his line to deny Kaoru Mitoma what could’ve been a decisive strike on goal – hurting himself in the process.

Although he once again failed to save a penalty in the shootout, the Spaniard did more than enough in normal and extra time to ensure that that won’t be a stick to beat him in the aftermath of the semi-final.

Manchester United worst player in the FA Cup semi-final

Anthony Martial’s 2/10 performance in the semi-finals is very disgraceful.

Starting as the centre forward, ahead of Wout Weghorst, Martial demonstrated why the club appears hellbent on buying a new number nine during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The French striker was unable to hold up play effectively, make any major efforts on goal, or even simply run around a bit to apply pressure on the Brighton defence as they attempted to build from the back.

His tame chipped effort in the first half, taken on with next-to-no-conviction, perhaps best sums up Martial’s performance.
