Gor Mahia’s lead at the top of the FKF Premier League standings has been cut down to two points after dropping a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Posta Rangers at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Before the weekend round of matches, K’Ogalo had a four-point lead to second placed Tusker FC, but now, after the brewers won, the gap has been reduced to two points.
Gor had gone 2-0 up inside the opening half hour against Posta, but Cavin Odongo came off the bench to inspire a comeback from the mailmen, scoring one and his shot coming off the back of keeper for a late equalizer.
“Today honestly we were way below our level. We struggled to make anything work and we only scored two goals because Posta were poor in defending crosses. We never really got going and we tried to make changes in the second half, but they also struggled,” the tactician said after the match.
His opposite number John Kamau was dejected that his side could not make the most of their chances.

“We had opportunities to score and we dominated in both halves. Unfortunately we could not use the chances we had but at the end of the day we got a point from, two goals down and that is good but not good enough,” the coach said.
Gor had gone to a 2-0 lead within the opening half hour, both scored in similar way.
Omalla broke the deadlock after six minutes when he rose unmarked inside the box to head home a cross from Boniface Omondi.
On the half hour mark, the 21-year old forward doubled the tally and took his count of goals for the season to 23, when he once again stole a yard of space inside the box to head home a cross from Omondi.
Posta had a spell of dominance between the two goals, but they couldn’t make use of their chances. In the 23rd minute off a counter after the keeper had saved a shot from Omondi, Caleb Olilo failed to beat the keeper from a tight angle. The other chance was a 17th minute Brian Marita shot that went way wide off target.
In the second half, it was Posta who were more adventurous forward and just within the opening minute, a blunder from Gor defender Paul Ochuoga with a short backpass was almost punished but Dennis Ng’ang’a bailed him out with a block to deny Timothy Otieno.

Posta however got their goal after 61 minutes when Cavin Odongo hit the back of the net barely five minutes on the pitch.
A quick counter saw Patrick Otieno lay a deep cross from the left finding Brian Marita at the backpost, the latter setting up Odongo who fired into the net from the edge of the six yard box.
The goal ignited some pressure from Posta as they forced Gor to defend deep and they had to make changes, the shaky Ochuoga coming off for Geoffrey Otieno.
Omalla would have killed off the game with 14 minutes left when he broke free on the right, but his shot was saved one on one by the keeper Kevin Opiyo.
Posta piled in pressure seeking at least a point from the contest, and it bore fruit at the stroke of 90 minutes with Odongo striking from the edge of the box, the ball coming off the post before bouncing off keeper Mathews’ back.
