Early life
Frenkie was born in Arkel, the Netherlands, on May 12, 1997. Frankie was born to his father, John de Jong and his mother, Marjon Schuchhard-De Bruijn. Both his mother and father were professional football players, thus Frenkie grew up with the necessary guidance and direction from a family with a strong professional football background. He played football for his hometown team, ASV Arkel, where he grew up, and he was good at balancing his schoolwork and football.
He joined the Willem II in 2004, where he acquired the skills that now define his playing style.

Frenkie had no trouble advancing through the team’s ranks thanks to his abilities and unwavering determination to win. He gained the favour of some of his coaches as a result of his outstanding play, including the U-15 coach Jos Bogers, who frequently described Frenkie as a natural player. As soon as he made his Eredivisie debut in May 2015, his abilities quickly earned him a spot in the first team. Following his debut, the young star player was sought out by a number of clubs. He ultimately made the decision to sign a contract with Ajax in the summer of 2015.
He made his 15 appearances in January 2015-16 Eerste Divise after joining Club Ajax in 2016. During that time, he scored two goals and provided three assists. For his success in the league, he received the Talent of the Season award in the following 2016–17 Eerste Divise. At the age of 20, he had made 26 appearances for the senior team, playing as a centre-back in a back four alongside Matthijs de Light of the national team. Throughout the season, he had assisted 8 goals in 22 league games while accruing two yellow cards.
Spanish giants Barcelona then acquired the world-class midfielder for a fee of 75 million dollars. He went on to make his debut against Athletic Bilbao where they won 1-0.
De Jong was instrumental in FC Barcelona’s 2021 Copa del Rey victory as the Spanish powerhouse. He contributed to two goals in FC Barcelona’s 4-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. The midfielder was given the 2020–21 Barcelona Players Award.
International career

On July 10, 2015, he played in his first game for the Netherlands U19 squad against Germany. In a 2-1 victory over Peru in a friendly match, he earned his international debut. He has started practically every game for the Netherlands since becoming a regular starter, and on September 6, 2019, he tied the score against Germany in Hamburg during a UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying match, helping the Netherlands win 4-2.
Frenkie de Jong became part of the Netherlands team at the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. In the group stage against the host country Qatar, he scored the opening goal.
