Minnesota Timberwolves had a nerve-breaking Game 6 match with the Denver Nuggets. The Wolves took a 17-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back, forcing the series’ first home victory against the defending champions in Game 7.

Their 45-point victory was the second-biggest in NBA history for any club facing elimination in the second round of the playoff series.

Additionally, Minnesota was a ball-moving machine, with at least one assist from each member of the rotation. Karl-Anthony Towns was constantly double-teamed by the Nuggets to make him make decisions, and the big man responded by making the right pass almost every time.

Following a few minutes of back-and-forth, the Timberwolves exploded for a 27-2 run, establishing a lead that would never drop below double figures.

Not that the game was done by then, but for the first time since their crushing defeats in Games 1 and 2, the Nuggets were down.

Denver made a lineup adjustment to try to adapt at the beginning of the second quarter. Jokić, MVP of the league who usually starts the second and fourth quarters was on the bench to catch his rest.

But when play resumed, he was on the court. After losing the lead, the Timberwolves struck back, going on a 13-0 run and capping the half with a buzzer-beater from Jaden McDaniels.
