He plays as a striker for Serie A club Napoli and the Nigeria national team
He is under Chelsea’s watch following his recent performances
Victor Osimhen, Serie A Napoli and Nigeria national team striker is under watch by Chelsea who have been following his recent performances, viewing him as a potential candidate for their attacking defence.
In the last seasons, Chelsea showed some interest in the player but they were not in a position due to several factors. This summer, they have spoken their mind about signing a top striker who will fill their attacking position.
Apart from the English Premier League club Chelsea, other Premier League clubs and European clubs like Arsenal and PSG have also declared their interest in the 25-year-old. However, he recently signed a contract extension with Napoli that could keep him at the club until 2026.
The contract also included a salary more than double, estimated to be $11 million after tax, an indication that he is valuable to the team and they are willing to keep him at whatever cost. The club has given a high clause that exceeds $120 million and this might make it difficult for some of the clubs attempting a transfer.
Early this year, Napoli posted a video on their TikTok account of a missed penalty by the striker, an act that made him unfollow the club, with his agent threatening to take legal action against the club for the offensive video.
In their defence, Napoli deleted the video and also apologized and the situation seems to have been resolved, and with the contract extension, we can conclude that he is on good terms with the club.

He also earned a Silver Ball as the second-best player and the CAF Youth Player of the Year award. After the tournament, he signed with German club VfL Wolfsburg and was sent on loan to Belgian club Charleroi to gain more experience and playing time.
A year later, he signed with French club Lille for one season, before joining Napoli in a record-breaking deal that made him one of the most expensive African footballers at the time. Internationally, he also represents the Nigeria national team and has been a regular since making his debut.
He was part of the Nigeria squad that reached the Africa Cup of Nations final in 2023, and finished eighth place in the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2023, becoming the first Nigerian to reach the top ten.

This is evident that the club has realized his worth and they want to keep him for longer. His new contract has more than double his salary and also has a hefty release clause exceeding $120 million.
This means that any club interested in acquiring him will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets for his transfer. However, Chelsea is among the many clubs that are eyeing him due to his recent performance.
There are other clubs in the Premier League and in Europe that are also interested in him including Arsenal and PSG.
