Teams have an opportunity to wrap up their preparations over the international break in front of a busy summer that will feature the European Championship and Copa America.

We look at players who might make their international debuts in this international break.

Following a stellar debut campaign at Newcastle, Anthony Gordon received his first England call-up. The winger will play for the national team against Brazil and Belgium in March.

Gordon was named Player of the Tournament when England’s under-21 squad won the European Championship last summer. Gordon has excelled for the national team at the young level. He played well as a false nine and scored twice during that tournament. Gareth Southgate was drawn to him because of his versatility in the front line.

Gordon, ever the hard worker and straight shooter, has raised his game this season. The 23-year-old has contributed five assists and nine goals to the Premier League, frequently providing energy to a Newcastle squad that has struggled with consistency.

With Jack Grealish out due to injury, there is intense competition for a wide position in the England team among the more seasoned Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jarrod Bowen, and Cole Palmer possibilities. In order to secure a spot at Euro 2024, Gordon must use the opportunity presented by a possible audition this month.

Maximilian Beier

For its matches against France and the Netherlands this month, Germany has announced an inexperienced squad led by Julian Nagelsmann, which includes six uncapped players. The host country of Euro 2024 had only won three of their previous 11 international matches, making preparations for a home tournament difficult. After losing to Turkey and Austria in back-to-back games before the break in November, Nagelsmann has tried to infuse more youth into the team this month.

With his breakout season at Hoffenheim, Maximilian Beier is the most intriguing addition. The 21-year-old, who has contributed five assists and 12 goals in the league, is reportedly under consideration from a number of Premier League teams, including Liverpool.

In Europe’s top five divisions, Beier has contributed to more goals than any other u-21 player aside from Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham. He will try to make an impression on Germany’s plans before the summer. Timo Werner, a forward for Tottenham, has an opportunity to establish his case for playing in the European Championship after being left out of the most recent roster.

Deniz Undav, who has scored fifteen goals while on loan from Brighton to Stuttgart, is one of the uncapped players along with Waldemar Anton, Alexander Pavlovic, Maximilian Mittelstädt, and Jan-Niklas Beste.

Kobbie Mainoo

Following a standout showing in Manchester United‘s FA Cup victory against Liverpool, Gareth Southgate has decided to promote teenager Kobbie Mainoo into the senior squad. Mainoo originally got passed over for his first England call-up this month.

After making his Manchester United debut at Everton in November, Mainoo has made a significant impact and established himself as a key member of Erik ten Hag’s squad. Impressive in his maturity, press resistance, and composure under duress, the adolescent from Stockport has participated in 20 events.

Declan Rice has no reliable partner in center midfield for England, and Southgate has frequently favored a two-man defensive pivot. This month, when England takes on Brazil and Belgium, Mainoo will have the opportunity to try out for the job against top competition. So far in his young career, he has managed every stage.

Galeno

For their international break in March, Brazil has selected an experimental group as the Selecao try to turn things around following a poor World Cup qualifying campaign. In South American qualifying, the five-time world champions have dropped their last three matches before this month’s friendlies against England and Spain.

The Porto winger Galeno is one of the eleven uncapped players in the new head coach Dorival Junior’s team. This season, the 26-year-old has been in fantastic form for the Portuguese team, tallying 13 goals and dishing out nine assists.

He grabbed attention with five goals, including the game-winning goal in stoppage time against Arsenal at The Estádio do Dragão, as Porto advanced to the round of 16.

With Alisson and Ederson out of the picture, there will be a new rookie in goal. Savio, a winger for Girona who will play for Manchester City in the summer, is also expected to make his debut.
