Considered by many one of the best strikers of his generation, Teemu Pukki is a name many football fans are well familiar with.

Pukki, who was born in Kotka, Finland, has played for different clubs over the course of his career, but is best known for his time with Norwich City. Apart from starring in the Championship and even being crowned Player of the Season, the lethal striker also made a name for himself in the Premier League, scoring crucial goals against top clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Following Norwich City’s relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2021-22 season, few are familiar with Teemu Pukki’s whereabouts. Today, we are going to talk about Pukki’s career and where he is currently playing.

Teemu Pukki’s Football Journey 

Pukki began his football journey playing for Finnish clubs KoNa and KTP at youth level. Following his impressive performance while playing for KTP youth team, he was handed his first team debut when he was just 16 years old. He spent two seasons with the senior team, scoring three goals in 29 matches.

Pukki then secured a transfer to Spanish giants Sevilla in 2008 and made his debut the following year in a home match against Racing. He spent most of his time at Sevilla playing for the reserve side Sevilla Atletico before deciding to return to Finland.

The Finish striker signed with HJK and had a fruitful spell, winning Veikkausliiga and Finish Cup, and playing a significant role in HJK’s UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League qualifications.

Pukki continued with his football journey in Germany where he had a spell at Schalke 04 before moving to Celtic and later Brondby. He landed at Norwich City during the summer of 2018, signing a three-year deal.

When Pukki signed with Norwich, they were playing in the Championship. He made his debut on 4 August as Norwich were held to a 2-2 draw by Birmingham City. He scored his first goal for The Canaries one week later as they suffered a 4-3 defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

Pukki was in red-hot form from January to February as he scored eight goals in six consecutive games. His goals were crucial as Norwich received promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season. The Finn was named the EFL Championship Player of the Season, Norwich City F.C. Player of the Season and was also included in the Championship Team of the Season.

Pukki continued with his goalscoring prowess in the Premier League, scoring on the first match of the 2019-20 season as Norwich were defeated 4-1 by Liverpool. He grabbed a hat-trick the following week as the Canaries beat Newcastle United 3-1.

Due to his impressive performance, he was named August’s Premier League Player of the Month and the PFA Premier League Player of the Month. Pukki scored a total of eleven goals at the end of the season but Norwich were still relegated.

Pukki was again one of the top stars in the Championship and his goalscoring prowess helped the Canaries receive another promotion to the Premier League. He was linked with moves to top clubs such as Manchester United but remained at Norwich until the end of the season, after which they were relegated.

Where Is Pukki Now? 

Pukki spent the 2022-23 season in the Championship playing for Norwich. He confirmed on 5 April 2023 that he was going to leave the club as a free agent. During his time with the Canaries, he scored a total of 88 goals in 210 matches.

Pukki moved to the MLS in the summer of 2023 and signed with Minnesota United. The 33-year-old already has his name in the club’s history books as he is the first Minnesota player to score four goals in a single game.
