  • Real Madrid are interested in signing Alphonso
  • He is among the top targets for the summer by Real Madrid
  • Bayern Munich has already identified his replacement

Alphonso Davies is a 23-year-old Canadian who is a professional footballer for Bayern Munich and has been seen to be a potential transfer target by Real Madrid though it is not confirmed.

His contract at Bayern expires in 2025 and the club has been eager to tie him down to a new deal though it looks impossible as he seems set to exit and join Real Madrid. Though there is no official communication about his exit, Bayern has started looking for a suitable replacement.

Bayern is prepared for his exit in the summer and they have set their sights on AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez as an option to replace him. However, Davies and his agent are on the verge of negotiating for a big salary, leading to the possibility of a sale come summer.

Alphonso Davies Biography

Davies was born in Buduburam, a refugee camp in Ghana, to Liberian parents who were fleeing from the Second Liberian Civil War. When he was five years old, his family immigrated to Canada. His passion for football began in Ghana and on getting to Canada, he joined the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, he became the first player in MSL to sign with the club at 15 years old.

With the Whitecaps, he became a key player and this earned him a transfer to Bayern Munich for a then-record MLS transfer fee. Adopting the European stage was fast and he became a crucial part of the club’s success, winning numerous trophies including the Bundesliga title four times, the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Davies is a key player for the Canadian national team and helped them qualify for the 2022 World Cup for the first time in a couple of years.

Alphonso Davies’s personal life

The 23-year-old was born on November 2 2000 in Buduburam, a refugee camp in Ghana, to Liberian parents Debeah and Victoria Davies, who were fleeing from the Second Liberian Civil War. When he was five years old, his family immigrated to Canada. The player has five siblings, and he is the fourth-youngest

His humble beginnings are an example of overcoming adversity and has since become a role model for young athletes as he is a symbol of hope for refugees around the world. His career is relatively young but has shown a glimpse of potential in future.

Davies’s Contribution to Bayern’s Success

Joining Bayern Munich at the age of nineteen years, the player has had a great impact on his team’s success despite his young age. On joining, he started as a winger, then transitioned to left-back excelling in both positions.

This makes him a threat down the left flank and creates scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates, providing numerous assists. In the team’s recent success, he played a pivotal role contributing to:

  • Four Bundesliga titles
  • Two DFB-Pokal titles
  • Two DFL-Supercup titles
  • One Champions League title
  • One FIFA Club World Cup title

He has become an essential player for Bayern Munich contributing significantly on and off the field, and is expected to continue making a significant impact in future.

Several media outlets have also reported on transfer interest from clubs like Real Madrid, suggesting he might consider the move and Bayern has begun looking for a replacement who will fill his gap after his departure.

Since he is valuable in the team’s success, Bayern hasn’t officially declared him available for transfer, and they reportedly set a price tag of $54 million for negotiations. Overall, it is not very clear whether he is set to leave Bayern or not as he is very positive about his club, showing focus to continue playing for them.
