Born in Saint-Die-des-Vosges, France, Kalidou started his football journey at local club Saint-Die in 1999. He spent four years at the club and then joined Metz in 2003. Three years later, he returned to Saint-Die where he stayed until 2006 and then joined Metz again.
Kalidou made his professional club career debut at Metz and then moved to Belgian side Genk in 2012. The talented centre-back spent two years in Belgium, helping Genk win the 2012-13 Belgian Cup.
He then continued with his football journey at Napoli, where he spent eight years. While playing for the Italian side, Kalidou established himself as one of the best defenders in the world.
