With a two-goal victory over Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur recorded back-to-back victories in the Premier League.

With a great effort against Andoni Iraola’s team, Spurs, who came into the match off a 2-0 win over Manchester United, succeeded in moving onto seven points in the standings.

James Maddison scored the opening goal in the 17th minute. Dejan Kulusevski scored the second goal for the visitors in the 63rd minute after a good effort in the opening kickoff.

In the 14th minute, Neto made a big error by passing the ball directly to Maddison for Bournemouth, but the 34-year-old was still able to block the effort before Richarlison’s header was saved.

However, Tottenham would not be deterred, and three minutes later, Maddison scored the game-changing goal for the visitors by steering the ball into the bottom left after receiving a superb pass from Pape Sarr.

After some deft work by Son Heung-min, Sarr had an opportunity of his own in the 23rd minute, but the midfielder misfired into Neto’s appreciative arms.

Son later sent a shot past the post, as Bournemouth battled to level the game late in the opening half when Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario turned away a header from Philip Billing.

The visitors demanded a penalty for a challenge that came in on the striker from Lloyd Kelly, but the referee seemed uninterested, and VAR eventually agreed. Richarlison had another fantastic opportunity in the 37th minute, but the Brazilian failed to worry Neto inside the area.

Following Richarlison’s misdirected header of a Maddison cross, Vicario produced a deft save at the opposite end to stop Ryan Christie’s shot.

The last second of play saw Billing have Bournemouth’s finest chance of the half, but his shot from within the Spurs area went just wide of the post.

Dominic Solanke gained space inside the Spurs box and sent a beautiful low cross, but there were no takers at the far post, giving the Cherries another great opportunity early in the second half.

With Bournemouth pressing in the opening minutes of the second half, Antoine Semenyo blasted a rasping attempt just wide in the 57th minute.

In the 63rd minute, Kulusevski scored from close range to increase Tottenham’s lead by converting a cross from Destiny Udogie.

The visitors claimed victory at three on a fantastic day for the North London club, who have temporarily gone to the top of the division. In the 69th minute, Maddison blasted a shot just past of the Bournemouth goal. Later, Ben Davies missed a chance.

Tottenham will now turn their focus to the EFL Cup, where they will go to Fulham on Tuesday. On the same night, Bournemouth will play Swansea City in the same tournament.
