Moroccan defender Nouhaila Benzima inspires Muslim girls on playing football

Nouhaila is a Moroccan female defender who plays for the Moroccan national team and her net worth in 2023 is estimated to be $1 million. She became the first female defender to ever play in a Hijab in a World Cup match.

Benzina was born and raised in Morocco and she began her football career at the tender age of ten years playing for a local club AS FAR.

She made her professional debut for the Moroccan national team and has since played for her country in three Africa Women’s Cups of Nations, and was also part of the Moroccan team that won the 2018 Arab Women’s Cup.

The defender can either play at left or right back and is known for her speed, strength and tackling, and she is a good crosser of the ball.

The player is considered to be one of the best female defenders in Africa and was named the Moroccan Women’s Footballer of 2019.

Benzina was born on May 11, 1998, in Casablanca, Morocco to Moroccan parents, her father is a businessman and her mother is a homemaker.

She has two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. Her parents have been very supportive and upon discovering her talent, they enrolled her in a local club Academy known as AS FAR.

She is however a very private person and we don’t know about her spouse though she has a young daughter and is very devout when it comes to her Islam religion.

She has set a pace for young girls in Morocco who would love to play football.

Career

Benzina began her career at the AS FAR club at the very tender age of ten years. She has been part of the Moroccan Women’s national team and played for several age levels.

She has since played in three Africa Women’s Cup of Nations and was also part of the Moroccan team that won the 2018 Arab Women’s Cup.

The following year, she was named the Moroccan Women’s Footballer of the Year and is so far one of the best female defenders in Africa.

The defender then moved to France to play for FCF Juvisy and has also played for Paris Saint-Germain and FC Fleury 91.

Benzina made headlines for being the first female player to wear a Hijab at a World Cup match though she did not play in the match.

A week later, she played in a win over South Korea and she wore an Islamic headscarf, making history as the first female player to ever wear an Islamic headscarf at the senior level.
