Denzel Dumfries fell in love with football at a very young age and was determined to become a professional footballer. He began his career at Spartan ’20, where he spent two years before being released because he was not considered enough. His teammates and trainers also did not like him.
Dumfries did not give up on his dream and he joined Smitshoek, where he spent nine years. The Dutch international expressed his desires of playing football at a higher level afterwards and ended up joining Heerenveen in the summer of 2017.

He impressed at Heerenveen, attracting the attention of PSV Eindhoven, who signed him in June 2018 on a five-year deal. The talented right-back made his debut for PSV in the Johan Cruyff Shield match against Feyenoord. He played the whole game as his team lost 6-5 on penalties.
