  • Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has confirmed that Chelsea will not be signing the 23-year-old permanently this summer and will return to the club.

Chelsea have already started acting in the transfer market and this can be seen by the decision that has been made on Joao Felix.

According to latest reports, Joao Felix is already on the way out after completing his loan deal with the Blues. Felix, who played his last game for Chelsea on Sunday, will not be remaining at Stamford Bridge this summer. His 11 million Euros loan move to Chelsea in January has ended with no fresh deal between either parties.

Atletico Madrid president confirmed the reports saying that new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is not interested in Joao Felix.

“We have been informed that Poch does not count with Joao Felix for Chelsea. He will return here, we’ll see… we’ve nothing planned.” Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo said, as per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Joao Felix has played 20 games in all competitions for Chelsea since his transfer in January, scoring four goals. However, he didn’t register an assist. His last goal was against Manchester United as the Blues were hammered 4-1 at Old Trafford.

Atletico Madrid signed Felix from Benfica in 2019 for around 114 million Euros, making him the fourth most expensive player of all time. He signed a new long-term deal with Madrid earlier this year and has his eyes on the Champions League.

However, things have not been good between Joao Felix and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. The 23-year-old forward had earlier said he is happy at Chelsea and would love to remain in England even after the end of his loan deal.

“I don’t know yet my future. But these four, five months, I loved it. It’s a top club, everyone in the club was very good to me. My team-mates unbelievable. I really like to be here.” Joao Felix said, as per Eurosport.

Joao Felix’s decision is an indication that new manager Mauricio Pochettino is already acting quickly even though he is yet to officially get underway. The Blues confirmed him as their manager starting from this summer and he has already began rebuilding his team.

Chelsea require major changes in their squad as more players are expected to leave this summer. With June 330 being a soft deadline day for the Blues to record transfers on the books, there is one month to release as many players as possible.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edouard Mendy, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hakim Ziyech are expected to leave the club before the end of this summer.
Chelsea academy product Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Marc Cucurella and Kai Havertz could also be on the move this summer. Captain Cesar Azpilicueta could also depart after more than a decade with the Blues.
