Manchester United won in the Premier League by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho.
Raphael Varane returned to the lineup after an ankle issue, although the Red Devils were without Marcus Rashford due to a leg injury.
United start on the front foot
At Old Trafford, Man United got off to a fast start. In the sixth minute, Christian Eriksen had a half-chance, but his long-range shot was always soaring over the crossbar.
When a near-post corner caused problems inside the Man United box in the eighth minute, Wolves had their own opportunity. Craig Dawson narrowly missed the goal with a shot over the crossbar, then Antony fired wide of debutant Daniel Bentley’s goal seconds later down the other end after a mistake by Max Kilman.
At the 30-minute mark, Antony was given another opportunity by Luke Shaw’s wonderful cross, but the Brazilian’s header went over the crossbar.
However, the Red Devils did score in the 32nd minute when Antony burst into the Wolves’ area and squared for Martial, who calmly finished into the bottom corner.

In the 42nd minute, Bentley had to push a deflected shot from Victor Lindelof over his own crossbar. Later, when Man United threatened with a second goal before halftime, Varane’s shot was blocked by the Wolves goalkeeper.
The two teams were separated by just one goal at the half as Antony again found Martial in first-half stoppage time, but this time, Bentley stopped Martial’s shot.
The second half
There were clear tensions among the home team’s supporters inside the stadium as the visitors continued to press the game at Old Trafford. In the 58th minute, Hwang Hee-chan missed the post with a shot.
Afterward, Antony’s low shot from the other end of the field was diverted just short of the goal before Bentley made a superb stop to deny Fernandes a goal in the 64th minute.
Jadon Sancho attempted to pick out the near post after wiggling his way into the penalty area in the 73rd minute, but Bentley produced another deft save to thwart him.
In the 82nd minute, Casemiro attempted to score, but the Wolves’ goalkeeper was forced to make another save. Wout Weghorst then headed the ensuing corner over the bar.

Bruno Fernandes missed a target with a free kick in the closing minute of regulation at Old Trafford, and Antony was then denied by Bentley, who was undoubtedly the star of the show for Wolves. Fernandes then struck just a little bit too high in the 87th minute.
However, Man United did score their second goal in the 94th minute when Garnacho, who had been out with an ankle injury, superbly found the back of the net after being set up by Fernandes.
Next Saturday, Manchester United will play their next league game on the road against Bournemouth, while Wolves will host Everton.
