Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on Sunday at Anfield to make it four straight Premier League victories and increase their odds-on chances of finishing in the top four.

Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz, and Mohamed Salah scored for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the first 15 minutes.

Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison fought to get some points for Tottenham Hotspurs but Diogo Jota scored in the dying minutes to ensure Liverpool take all the points.

Liverpool’s dream start

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross from the right found Jones, who scored the opening goal for the home team with an exquisite volley in the third minute of play at Anfield.

The Reds then increased their lead in the fifth minute thanks to a goal from Cody Gakpo who found Diaz in the Tottenham box and then delivered the ball to him for a volley.

Spurs were completely disorganized, and Liverpool was given a penalty in the 14th minute after Cristian Romero recklessly tackled Gakpo.

Despite missing his previous two penalties, Salah took the shot this time and converted flawlessly, chipping the ball down the middle to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.

In the 29th minute, Kane had a chance to score for Tottenham, but his shot went wide of the post. Shortly after, the offside flag was raised because the England captain had advanced past the last defender.

Son had a great opportunity for the visitors in the 39th minute, but Virgil van Dijk superbly saved the effort after Kane had found the forward.

Ivan Perisic found Harry Kane inside the area, and the forward quickly managed to score for Tottenham by volleying through Alisson Becker’s knees.

In the 44th minute, Son curled a shot against the post, but if it had gone into the corner, the offside flag would have disqualified the South Korean goal.

The second half

Tottenham came so close to scoring a second goal at Anfield when Son also rattled the post with a low shot early in the second half. After the break, Liverpool continued to play clumsily.

Romero also hit the Liverpool goal post with a shot in the 54th minute, and Alisson then made a superb save to push a Pedro Porro attempt over the crossbar.

In the 77th minute, Son scored to make it 2-2, setting up a thrilling finish in Merseyside. The forward raced clear before skillfully putting the ball past Alisson.

After Ibrahima Konate fouled Richarlison late in the game, Richarlison had a shout for a penalty. The Brazilian then scored in the 93rd minute, setting off wild celebrations in the opposing end.

Jota scored a dramatic winner for the Reds 99 seconds after the equalizer thanks to an error by Lucas Moura.

Liverpool’s next match is against Fulham at home on Wednesday night, and Spurs’ next match is against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
