Premier League side Leicester City have sacked manager Brendan Rodgers following Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

Rodgers won 92 of his 204 games in charge, which is a win percentage of 45.1%. According to Leicester City’s chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, performance and results this season were below shared expectations. And as a result, the Irish manager had to leave.

“Performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations. It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management. Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the Board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status.” Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said, as per Leicester City’s official website.

Leicester City have sacked Brendan Rodgers after dropping into the relegation zone following a fifth defeat in six league games. The Foxes began the 2022-23 campaign with seven defeats in ten Premier League matches. They then went on a run of four wins from five games ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

However, Leicester began struggling again at the start of this year. They have since collected just seven points from the available 33. Newcastle United knocked them out of the Carabao Cup before Blackburn Rovers stunned them in the FA Cup.

Leicester seemed to have gained momentum after securing a 2-2 draw with Brighton before thrashing Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur. However, things went astray again and the club has not recorded a victory in eight games across all competitions since February 11.

Brendan Rodgers sacked by Leicester City is a dramatic fall from grace to grass by both club and manager. He leaves Leicester after four years in charge and as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history. During his four years in charge, Rodgers guided Leicester to their first FA Cup triumph and FA Community Shield victory.

He also guided the team to three highest Premier League finishes and a first European semi-final in 2022. Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha praised Rodgers for helping Leicester City achieve success during his time with the club. He added that Leicester will never forget Brendan.

“The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves – we’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us to reach on the pitch.” Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha praised Brendan Rodgers in a statement released by the club.

As of now, there have been 13 managerial changes in the Premier League this season, with Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter being sacked this weekend.
