Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp compares Darwin Nunez to Robert Lewandowski, saying he sees similarities between the two.

Darwin Nunez has been struggling to score since his big-money move to Liverpool last summer. However, his boss Jurgen Klopp is not concerned about the several big opportunities he has been squandering.

According to Jurgen Klopp, he had a similar encounter back at Borussia Dortmund when Robert Lewandowski arrived from Poland.

Klopp said that the FC Barcelona attacker, who is currently one of the best goalscorers in the world, also struggled to score when he first arrived in Germany.

Jurgen Klopp had several shooting sessions with Lewandowski so as to improve his accuracy and goalscoring.

They even placed bets that if Lewandowski scored more than ten times, he would pay him ten euros, and vice versa.

“There are a lot of similarities, to be honest. I think Lewy would tell the same story. We had shooting sessions where he didn’t finish off one. We had bets all the time for 10 euros – ‘if you score more than 10 times, I will pay you 10; if you don’t, you have to pay me’. My pocket was full of money!” Jurgen Klopp said, as per BBC

Well, Jurgen Klopp believes that if Robert Lewandowski turned out to be one of the best finishers, then things will also work out for Darwin Nunez.

“It’s all about staying calm. When you see the potential, stay calm…I think we all agree that the potential is so obvious. You do it like this the next time you do it like that,” he added.

Darwin Nunez has been making headlines for missing several chances in the last two games he has played for Liverpool.

The Uruguayan international squandered several goalscoring opportunities during Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to rivals Manchester City. He also failed to convert several open chances in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Even though Darwin Nunez needs to improve his shooting accuracy, he has managed nine goals this season. Nunez is a real worker whose speed and attitude are incredible.

Recently, former Manchester United striker Andy Cole gave a brutal response to a fan who compared him to Darwin Nunez.

Andy Cole said that people need to have some respect for his name. The fact that he is a quiet guy who no longer plays football does not mean that fans should start disrespecting him.

“People need to stop disrespecting my name because I don’t play the game. Just a quiet guy getting on with life, and people think they can disrespect me. Look at the numbers and compare them to anyone else.” The former Manchester United man replied to a fan who had compared him to Darwin Nunez.
