Aaron Wan-Bissaka back on Erik’s Plans

  • Wan-Bissaka’s performance against Burnley was top-notch
  • United defeated Burnley 2-0
  • Bissaka’s in Erik Ten Hag’s plan for future

After Wednesday’s EFL Cup victory over Burnley, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insisted that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a future at the club.

Under Ten Hag, Wan-Bissaka has struggled to find playing time because the Dutch tactician prefers Diogo Dalot in the right-back position during crucial games. According to rumours in the English media, the right-back may be moving when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 25-year-old received a rare start in the EFL Cup match against Burnley, contributing to Manchester United’s opening goal by setting up Christian Eriksen.

He did what the Manager wanted.

The 25-year-old is surplus to requirements and out of favour, but he may have seized the last of his remaining opportunities to make the team at the very last second.

With his full-back performance against Burnley, Wan-Bissaka got a strong start. Under the watchful eye of United’s manager, who stood meters away from him for most of the first half, he gradually became more involved in the game.

Ten Hag gave the defender instructions from the first few minutes, directing him to his position and encouraging him to attack whenever possible.

He appeared to gain confidence when he skillfully outmuscled his opponent. A few minutes later, he grabbed an incredible assist when he stretched to hook a cross across the goal for Christian Eriksen to tap in.

For him to stay at Old Trafford past the end of the current season, much more will be required than this performance.

Marcus Rashford’s outstanding goal in the 57th minute gave the Red Devils a 2-0 victory and guaranteed their advancement to the tournament quarterfinals.

“It is evident that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a future in this place.”

According to Reuters, Ten Hag insisted that Wan-Bissaka has a future at the club while speaking to reporters following the game. According to the Dutch tactician, the England international fell behind because of numerous injuries and illnesses.

Ten Hag continued by saying he was pleased with Aaron’s performance against Burnley and that the 25-year-fitness senior’s performance levels are improving.

“It is evident that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a future in this place”, Ten Hag told reporters on Wednesday. “He’s had some successful years with United, but this season has been plagued by illnesses and injuries, which has caused him to fall behind.”

“His performance levels are improving, as are his fitness levels.”

“When you receive an assist, especially the way he did with his movement, the appropriate timing, and the fantastic pass from Bruno, it is always a pleasure (Fernandes). ”

“However, this is fantastic, so I’m pleased with his performance. He did well.”

What else happened

While it was a question of what Wan-Bissaka might still be able to offer, Martin Dubravka seems to have already demonstrated all he can do while wearing the red and white of Manchester United.

Despite doing little to support his selection, the goalkeeper managed to keep his spot over Tom Heaton and David de Gea, who was returning from injury.

Dubravaka didn’t impress when, in the first half, he flapped at a cross that nearly led to a hilarious own goal, and he repeated the mistake when, seconds later, a soft back pass rolled under his foot and toward the goal.

Manchester United will make their Premier League return next Tuesday when they take on Nottingham Forest.
