Morocco became the first ever African country to qualify for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup after edging out Portugal 1-0 in the quarter final at the Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday.

Youssef En Nesyri scored the most important goal in Moroccan football history in the first half as the Atlas Lions made history in Doha.

They had progressed to the round of 16 for the first time in 36 years,before becoming only the fourth African team in history to make the quarters. And now, coach Walid Regragui and his Atlas Lions have inked their named in the books of history.

Despite playing the last six minutes of added time with 10 men after Walid Cheddira was sent off for a second yellow card, the Moroccans defended their slim lead with their hearts.
