Gerard Pique and Robert Lewandowski were sent off last night as Barcelona came from behind to defeat Osasuna 2-1.

Robert Lewandowski was the first to be sent off in the away match. It is the third time that he has been sent off since becoming a professional.

The Poland international received his first yellow card earlier in the game for fouling Osasuna’a Ignacio Vidal.

Lewandowski’s second yellow card, which forced the referee to show him the red card, came in the 36th minute for a flying elbow kick into David Garcia.

The elbow kick was unnecessary, and the Polish attacker deserved to be sent off. Robert Lewandowski will now miss the derby against Espanyol, which will be played on December 31.

However, he risks being banned if the elbow kick on David Garcia is upgraded to violent conduct.

Gerard Pique, on the other hand, was dismissed in the 45th minute after appearing to remonstrate with the match’s official.

The Spanish international, who was on the bench in what was his last game for FC Barcelona, was angered by the referee’s decision to send off Robert Lewandowski.

He sought out match officials on the field at the halftime whistle and then in the tunnel.

Gerard Pique allegedly told the match’s referee that he is the referee who has screwed FC Barcelona the most.

“You’re the referee who has most screwed Barcelona by some distance. You’re a f**king disgrace.” The referee’s report claimed, as per Daily Mail.

Pique would have faced a lengthy ban if he was still playing. However, there is little that La Liga can do since he has already announced retirement from professional football.

The legendary defender bid farewell to the football world on Saturday at Camp Nou as Barca defeated Almeria 2-0.

Barca Defeat Osasuna

FC Barcelona started the game badly as they struggled to get out of the Osasuna high press. They gave away possession in dangerous areas and eventually got punished in the sixth minute as David Garcia scored.

David Garcia’s goal couldn’t have counted as Unai Garcia ran through Marco Alonso and appeared to commit a foul.

However, the match’s referee Jesus Gil Manzano and VAR ignored what the Barca fans believed to be a foul and allowed the goal to count.

Barcelona eventually took control of the game towards the end of the first half despite being one man less on the pitch.

Xavi’s men found the equalizer through Pedri at the start of the second half before Raphinha scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the game.

FC Barcelona’s win has extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table by five points. The Catalans are comfortable that they will remain on top throughout the World Cup break.
