  • Haaland’s outstanding performance enabled him to set five records in front of the City fans.

Erling Haaland set new records on Sunday evening as his side thrashed Manchester United 6-3 at Etihad Stadium.

Before the game, football fans were wondering if Manchester United could stop Erling Haaland and the whole Manchester City team.

However, the answer turned out to be a big no as the Cytizens enjoyed a massive victory over their city neighbours.

Phil Foden opened the scoring for Manchester City just eight minutes into the game. Erling Haaland doubled the lead in the 34th minute before scoring City’s third three minutes later.

Phil Foden scored the fourth goal in the 44th minute after receiving a brilliant pass from Erling Haaland. Antony pulled one back for Manchester United with an amazing strike from outside the box in the 56th minute.

Haaland completed his hat trick in the 64th minute before Phil Foden also completed his own nine minutes later.

Anthony Martial, who replaced Marcus Rashford in the 59th minute, scored two late goals for Manchester United, including a penalty.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden shared the match ball and the Player of the Match awards due to their brilliant performances.

Apart from the massive win, Manchester City fans had something else to celebrate as Haaland set five new records at their home ground.

1. Hat-tricks in three consecutive home games

Erling Haaland set a new record by becoming the first player in Premier League history to score hat-tricks in three consecutive matches.

Before bagging the three goals against Manchester United, Haaland had scored hat-tricks against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

2. Hat-trick Against Manchester United

Erling Haaland became the first Manchester City player to score a hat-trick against Manchester United since Francis Lee in 1970.

Lee scored three goals for the Cytizens as they thrashed Manchester United 4-1 at Old Trafford.

3. The Most Goal Involvements In A Manchester Derby

Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick and assisted two more goals against Manchester United on Sunday evening. He is the player with the most goal involvements in a single Premier League Manchester derby.

4. Second Youngest Player To Score In A Manchester Derby

Erling Haaland’s header in the 34th minute made him the second youngest player to score in a Premier League Manchester derby.

Former Manchester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho remains the youngest, with his goal at Old Trafford in September 2016. He scored the goal aged 19 years and 243 days.

5. Highest Scorer In Europe

Erling Haaland’s hat-trick against Manchester United on Sunday enabled him to increase the gap in the race for the European golden shoe.

The Norwegian international is currently the top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues, with 14 goals in eight league games.

He is followed by Robert Lewandowski, who has nine goals in La Liga and Kylian Mbappe, who has eight in Ligue 1.
