Kenya’s Kimeli, Korir to compete at Copenhagen Half Marathon

  • Copenhagen Half Marathon is held annually on the streets of Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • Korir holds a personal best of 1:05:28 which she ran at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in February year.
  • Kimeli holds a Personal Best of 58:43 which he posted at the Valencia Half Marathon 2021.

Kenya’s Judith Korir and Matthew Kimeli are set to compete in this year’s Copenhagen Half Marathon which will be held on the 18th of September in Denmark.

Korir, a World marathon silver medalist holds a personal best of 1:05:28 which she ran at the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon in February this year.

Copenhagen Half Marathon which is an annual road running event is usually held in the streets of Copenhagen, Denmark.

She also won the Paris Schneider Electric Marathon and She is considered the third fastest in the field, half marathon events.

At the Copenhagen Half Marathon Korir will be accompanied by her fellow compatriots including Sharon Lokedi the former NCAA 10K champion, Vicoty Chepngeno, Agnes Keino, Irene Jepchumba, Fancy Chemutai, Chumba Chebichii, and Beatrice Chepkemoi.

Chemutai is regarded as the fastest in the field holding a personal best of 1:04:52 posted at the 2018 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon with Chepngeno being the second fastest holding a time personal best of 1:05:03 that she run at the Aramco Half Marathon early this year.

Lokedi who hails from Kenya’s Rift Valley region holds a personal best of 1:08:14 attained at the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon to place fourth this year.

Keino holds a personal best of 1:15:04, Chebichii 1:06:11, Jepchumba 1:06:03, and Chepkemoi 1:07:29 respectively.
The Ethiopian team will also be looking forward to a great victory with Feysa Hawi included The Kenyan team should prepare for stiff competition.

Feysa Hawi is The 2019 All-Africa Games silver medallist and she holds a personal best of 1:05:41 which placed her in the second position in last year’s edition of the Copenhagen Half Marathon.

Other Ethiopian sportsmen on the lineup include Bosena Mulatie who holds a personal best of 1:05:46, Betelihem Afenigus with a personal best of 01:07:47, debutant Tsigie Gebreselama, Gete Alemayehu with PB of 01:06:37, Tiruye Mesfin with a PB of 01:08:25, Tadu Teshome with 01:07:55, and Alemaddis Eyayu with a personal best of 01:08:04.

Kenya’s Matthew Kimeli, the second fastest in this field will also be competing in the Men’s category with Ethiopia’s Amedework Walalegn.

He holds a Personal Best of 58:43 posted at the Valencia Half Marathon 2021.

Kimeli will be accompanied by his fellow compatriots Felix Kipkoech who holds a personal best of 58:57, Josphat Kemei holding a personal best of 59:32, Ronald Kirui with a personal best of 59:38, Edmund Kipngetich with a personal best of 59:41, Alfred Kipchirchir with 59:43, Vincent Kipkemoi 1:00:00, Ed Cheserek 1:00:37, Boniface Kibiwott 1:00:52, Titus Kimutai with a personal best of 1:00:56, Mathew Kibiwott 1:02:19 and Jonathan Maiyo with a personal best of 59:02.
