Wydad are champions of Morocco

Wydad celebrate with the Champions League trophy

Elsewhere, Wydad Athletic Club have been crowned champions of the Moroccan Botola Pro despite playing to a 2-2 draw with Mouloudia Oujda (MCO) in their penultimate game of the season.

With one match left to play, the point saw Wydad move four points clear of their Casablanca rivals Raja who are second with 59.

Needing just a point from the game, Wydad found themselves trailing 2-0 in the opening 33 minutes of the match when Lamine Diakite scored twice in the 6th and 33rd minutes of the game to give Raja on the other end some massive hope of taking the title fight down to the wire.

However, a huge second half performance from Wydad saw them stage a stunning comeback with Guy Mbenza halving the deficit five minutes after the restart.

They battled and fought to get back on level terms and they did so in the first minute of added time when Juvhel Tsoumou scored the vital goal for a point.

Raja on the other end won 2-1 against AS Far, but it did little to deter the title destiny.

Wydad is the most successful club in the Moroccan championship with 22 titles.

New head coach Walid Regragoui has had a dream debut season, winning the league title on top of the CAF Champions League crown.
