Growing up in the 90s has nostalgic memories and a huge part of it has to do with WWE. Today, you can’t help but dig deep for the Undertaker biography.
He was a demi-god in wrestling and no one would ever forget his vintage motorcycle and a ghost-like personality. His demeanour strikes a love-fear factor but we can all admit we adored his act in the ring.
Coming back to the undertaker biography, it is interesting to say the least.
WHAT IS THE UNDERTAKER’S REAL NAME?
The Undertaker Biography. Photo/Short Biography
His real name is Mark William Calaway born in 1965 in Texas. Calaway was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022 for his critically praised “Deadman” Undertaker character.
He used it for most of his tenure wrestling for WWF/E. Through a 15-year contract inked in 2019, Calaway is still employed by WWE.
In 1987, Calaway began his professional wrestling career as a gimmick for World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW). During this time, he became the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion and the WCWA Texas Heavyweight Champion.
Prior to joining WWE, he briefly worked for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1989, when he was known as “Mean” Mark Callous.
The Undertaker biography has it that he joined the WWF thereafter. It is then that he came with this funereal, macabre persona that became a signature.
He became one of WWE’s most popular and enduring characters and this won him the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Best Gimmick award a record-setting five years in a row.
With 30 years in the business, The Undertaker is one of the most recognisable figures of the WWF/Attitude E’s Era. It was one of the most popular in the late 1990s.
In the year 2000, Calaway took on the motorcycle persona of “American Badass,” building on the character he assumed as The Undertaker. Undertaker, with traces of his previous incarnation as American Badass Undertaker, was revived by Calaway in 2004 as The Deadman Undertaker.
ARE KANE AND UNDERTAKER REAL LIFE BROTHERS?
It is surprising the Undertaker biography doesn’t mention a thing about Kane. Is there a connection between Kane and Undertaker in terms of blood relations?
No, there isn’t. They’re not even related. Kane, real name Glenn Jacobs became a Mayor for Knox County in Tennessee in 2018. He was then inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2021.
Kane and the Undertaker have always been interesting characters to watch.
The Undertaker and HBK continued their feud over the WWE Championship after their initial confrontation, but The Undertaker originally refused to touch his brother.
But at Royal Rumble 1998, Kane interfered with his on-screen brother’s casket match against Michaels, slamming the four-time WWE Champion into the casket and burning it ablaze before throwing Michaels out.
This sparked their animosity, which culminated at WrestleMania 14 with the first of many matches. Summerslam 2000 and WrestleMania 20 were two of the more intriguing matches that followed. Because of this, they are known as one of the most exciting tag-teams in wrestling history.
When they joined forces to become Brothers of Destruction, they dominated tag-team wrestling, winning the belts three times. They also had feuds with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Mankind, and Triple H. At Crown Jewel 2018, they were defeated by DX in a losing effort.
It’s unlikely they’ll face off again now that The Undertaker has announced his retirement from professional wrestling. However, the Brothers of Destruction will be remembered as one of WWE’s most memorable duos.
