Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney wants Cristiano Ronaldo to play as a striker going forward.
Rooney is upbeat that Ronaldo’s reunion with United will bear good fruits but for this to happen, he must fall back to a striker and not a forward.
“Where would I play him? As a striker,” he is quoted by Metro. “He’s a striker and the other nine outfield players behind him will probably have to do a little bit more work.”
Speaking to talkSPORT over the weekend, Rooney who won trophies alongside Ronaldo back in the day says it is a very exciting time for Manchester United.

He maintains that there is no doubt there will be transformation at Old Trafford and for fans too.
“For the fans, it will be great to see Cristiano back, it’s very exciting for everyone at the club,’ Rooney, United’s all-time record goalscorer,” said.
“And for his teammates, too, for some of those young lads in the dressing room, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, some of these young lads who have grown up watching him play at Old Trafford.
“For them, it would be a massive help, I’m sure.”
Ronaldo scored a total of 29 goals for Juventus last season making him Serie A top scorer for the season.
The Portugal captain is expected to inject a new dose of commitment and renewed zeal in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
Rooney, 36-year-old former England Captain notes that Ronaldo is a great addition to young players like Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood.
