How Does Eliud Kipchoge Spend His Fortune?

Clearly, Kipchoge is a man of means since his major breakthrough in 2014. With such wealth, one cannot help but ask how does he spend it all?

In a past interview with a local TV station, he opened up on his vast business interest. He says that his investments range from management companies (sound mainly), branding, packaging among others.

He did not delve much into what he does in each of them. However, he states that athletics is a big career – just like others. Therefore, the onus of self-development is with him which is why he invests wisely.

His branding front is nothing short of interesting. With his success in 17 marathons where he has lost only two, giant international corporates keep Kipchoge in their good books. And this is how he makes a living out of branding.

For instance, after his unrivaled win in the 2018 Berlin Marathon, SportsPro conducted a study effectively naming Kipchoge the 31st most marketable athlete globally. On top of this, Kipchoge enjoyed inclusion into a VIP list with 50 remarkable personalities across the world.

The SportsPro study gave Kipchoge mileage in the marketing front for a period of three years based on metrics such as his age, available market at home, and charisma level among other things.

Eliud Kipchoge Brand Partnerships

Kipchoge’s success in the tracks booked him a necklace of partnerships with international entities.

For starters, you remember about the INEOS challenge. It is unforgettable! Kipchoge bagged a major deal with the company dealing in petrochemicals.

Owned by British mogul Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Kipchoge’s name was amplified by the company during the Vienna INEOS 1:59 Challenge in 2019. The company, according to Forbes sunk $19 million in publicizing the challenge. And it was not in vain because it continues gaining more eyeballs in the business front since the marathon held two years ago.

Secondly, Kipchoge has another partnership with a global sportswear firm, Nike. Just by the mention of Nike, it says a lot – verbally and in monetary terms – how much he rakes from the partnership. Nike is a sportswear and high-end lifestyle brand of international repute.

With Kipchoge’s success in the track, Nike comes in as his official sponsor. Yet again, he is promoting a brand of international repute in his trade as a revered marathoner from East Africa. Nike has been instrumental in his career, funding his appearance in major marathons including the 2017 Monza Marathon in Italy.

Early this year, Nike launched Kipchoge’s apparel deal with the Kenyan flag and the name “Eliud” embossed on the kicks. The Kipchoge-Nike shoe line includes the controversial AlphaFly Next% footwear and other sportswear branded with his name.

Although he remains mum on the amount on point, every sports personality who signs with Nike gets a hefty bonus.

Last but not least, Kipchoge is a key brand ambassador for Maurtens – a leading sports supplements manufacturer. During his runs, he takes Maurtens rich in energy-giving supplements.
