For those who do not know who Morikawa is, he is a golf sensation who has four PGA Tour wins. That is in the inclusion of a major championship and the 2020 PGA Championship.
During the tournament, Collin maintained a game of steady golf to hold off the persistent challenges that were coming from Spieth, Oosthuizen and Jon Rahm.
Morikawa has had a successful career life. In his first-ever appearance at the British major, the golf icon marked the first man to win both the PGA Championship and the Open on his debut at the tournaments.
Nevertheless, he has also been ranked 1039th in the world. That was after he finished tied for 14th at the RBC Canadian Open, in June 2019.
On the other hand, Spieth was so close to Morikawa. After the tournament, this is what he had to say;
“My putting is not where I want to be at all. I say at all,” he told the media. “It’s progressing the right direction, but it’s not where it has been.
“And I know what needs to do to get there, and it’s just very difficult to do. But it sounds like today or this week, major championship rounds, where you have to obviously test not only your touch out here but also a lot of knobs and breaking putts and trust lines.
The golf player further expressed confidence that he was not as sharp as expected during that week.
“I just wasn’t extremely sharp with the putter this week. I was sharper than I was at Augusta, and it’s been a little bit kind of here and there this year. My bad weeks have been okay and my good weeks are really good, but I needed to put in a little bit of work trying to almost get a solid couple hundred to 500 putts in between yesterday’s finish to today’s round to think that I could go out and confidently go stroke enough to win.”
Jordan Spieth is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour and former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Additionally, he is a three-time major winner and the 2015 FedEx Cup champion. His first major win came in the 2015 Masters Tournament. That was when he shot a 270 (−18) and pocketed $1.8 million.
Spieth tied the 72-hole record set by Tiger Woods in 1997 and became the second-youngest golfer (behind Woods) to win the Masters. He then won the 2015 U.S. Open with a score of 5-under-par.

“At 24 years old, it’s so hard to look back at the two short years that I have been a pro and see what I’ve done because I want more. I enjoy these moments and I love it, and I want to teach myself to embrace it a little more, maybe spend a few extra days and sit back and drink out of this,” he said to the media.
Moreover, Collin said that he still craves for more and more wins.
“But I just want more. When you’re in these moments and you truly love what you do, which I love playing golf and competing against these guys, these are the best moments ever because the nerves push you to just be a better person.”

On to his career, on 12th July 2020, Collin outdid Justin Thomas. That was in a playoff to win his second PGA Tour title at the Workday Charity Open.
It was the first non-alternate PGA Tour victory for him. Morikawa rallied from a three-shot deficit with three holes remaining and made a 25-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to stay alive, before winning with a par on the third playoff hole.
Nevertheless, the golfing champion also won the 2020 PGA Championship on 9th August 2020. That was to win a major in only his second major championship start.
However, his final round of 64 tied the lowest final-round score shot. That was by a PGA Champion, matching Steve Elkington in the 1995 PGA Championship.
Interestingly, this win crowned Collin Morikawa as the third-youngest golfer to win the PGA Championship. He won the event at the age of 23.
Morikawa was also the fourth golfer to win the PGA Championship before turning 24 years old.
More to his wins, Collin won the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship. That was on 28th February 2021, at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida.
