J. Cole stats for Rwanda Patriots in Basketball Africa League

Rapper J. Cole made his professional basketball debut with Rwanda’s Patriots in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) over the weekend.

Cole went on to score three points, secured three rebounds and made a number of assists in his maiden appearance on the basketball court.

Rwanda’s Patriots Basketball Club benefitted from Cole’s involvement as they overcame Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers 83-60. Cole – who released his sixth album studio “The Off-Season” recently – came off the bench in the final minute of the opening quarter and made an impact by getting into the scoring column.

He followed up a layup miss by his teammate Steve Hagumintwari and converted the putback.

Cole is expected to play in the Patriots’ next three to six basketball league games.

The American rapper signed a contract to feature in the club’s competitive league a week ago and has already shown his worth in the team.

He showed the team player trait in his first game with the Patriots’ when he connected with a teammate for a layup after securing the ball in a fast break.

The 36-year-old musician was a star in the making at Stanford High School. However, his basketball dream did not take a course immediately as he ventured into the music industry.

His love for the game did not die. In 2020, the Detroit Pistons gave Cole a tryout after a video was posted of Cole taking some shots.
