The 2023–24 Premier League season has come to an end, bringing an end to yet another spectacular campaign.

During the last day of the season, Manchester City defeated Arsenal in the fight for the title, while Nottingham Forest defeated Burnley and Luton’s relegation was guaranteed. Aston Villa was thrashed 5-0 by Crystal Palace as they extended their unbeaten run, while Jurgen Klopp had a tearful farewell at Liverpool.

We look at the players who impressed on the final day of the season.

Pedro Porro – Tottenham

Consistently engaged in a daring display from the full-back position, Porro created a chance for Cristian Romero in the first half and nearly scored with a powerful strike just before the half ended. The second half saw him get his just desserts as he curled another blistering shot past Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.

With three goals and seven assists at season’s conclusion, the 24-year-old joins Kieran Trippier of Newcastle as the only two Premier League defenders to reach ten goal involvements.

Bruno Guimaraes – Newcastle

Newcastle usually play well when Bruno Guimaraes is on the field. Much of the Magpies’ greatest play came via the midfielder, who was the focal point of the team’s victory against Brentford on the last day. With a wonderful cross into Harvey Barnes, he set up the first goal. Just before halftime, he gave Alexander Isak another assist.

Just as Newcastle started to tire, Guimaraes scored a goal of his own to make it 4-2—a pivotal moment to secure a critical three points. This summer, Newcastle needs to hang onto him.

Phil Foden – Manchester City

The Premier League‘s Player of the Season crowned his team winners once more, a fitting way to round off the season. To calm tensions at the Etihad, Foden opened the score with a magnificent goal against West Ham. The 23-year-old then doubled the advantage to reach 19 goals in the Premier League this season.

Beyond only the goals, Foden once again established himself as the focal point of the Citizens offense, demonstrating his skill with touches, twists, and tight-area maneuvers while completing five crucial passes.

Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace crushed Aston Villa to round off their Premier League season on a high note thanks to a brilliant second half effort from Eberechi Eze.

Following a quiet start, he took advantage of a nice ball break to score Palace’s third goal of the afternoon. He then proceeded forward to set up Jean-Philippe Mateta for the game’s fourth. Eze scored a well-executed fifth goal to seal the victory, and he will be hoping to have contributed enough to be selected for England this summer.

Dejan Kulusevski – Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou experimented with his attacking line against Sheffield United, but Dejan Kulusevski led the line for Tottenham. The Swede made an impression in the advanced position, scoring twice in the 3-0 victory at Bramhall Lane. He first scored with a well-placed finish over the goalie, and he then scored again after a square feed from James Maddison.

Kulusevski’s ability to thrive across the front line is something Postecoglou should take advantage of, as his mobility created issues throughout the whole game.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace

Jean-Philippe Mateta has an insatiable scoring streak. With a hat-trick against Aston Villa on the penultimate day, the Frenchman, who has undergone a dramatic transformation under Oliver Glasner, increased his tally to 13 goals in 13 games.

Mateta, a clinical and bulldozing center-forward who serves as a focal point for Palace’s creative group, has made an amazing turnaround for a striker who scored only seven goals in his first 51 Premier League outings.

With 16 goals in the Premier League so far this season, he has the most of any Crystal Palace player since Andrew Johnson in 2004–05.

Djordje Petrovic – Chelsea

Petrovic performed admirably against Bournemouth despite not being really troubled. The Serbian goalkeeper was powerless to save Bournemouth’s deflected goal, but he did assist Chelsea withstand some late pressure to achieve the victory required to qualify for European football.

Although Petrovic’s surprising contribution to their season has guaranteed that continental competition will return to Stamford Bridge the following season, the West Londoners will likely require an improvement at number one in order to advance.
