With the 2023/24 season drawing close to an end, the Player of the Season award winners in Europe’s top five leagues have already been revealed
Kylian Mbappe was outstanding just as he has been over the years and was voted the Ligue 1 Player of the Season for a fifth consecutive time
Florian Wirtz was the Bundesliga Player of the Season
With the 2023/24 season drawing close to an end, the Player of the Season award winners in Europe’s top five leagues have already been revealed. From Premier League‘s Phil Foden to Jude Bellingham who has been crowned best player in two consecutive seasons, SportsLeo brings you the award winners of the 2023/24 season.
Premier League – Phil Foden
The Premier League Player of the Season award went to Phil Foden. The youngster, who turned 24 on Tuesday, was voted the best player in the Premier League after a stellar campaign with league champions Manchester City.

Foden had scored 17 league goals heading to the final day of the season and added two more against West Ham to lead Manchester City to triumph. The attacking midfielder had already been voted the FWA Footballer of the Year and also clinched the Etihad Player of the Season in a campaign he will remember for a long time.
Foden’s 19 strikes in the league were only bettered by three players, with the overall top scorer being his teammate Erling Haaland.
In total, eight players were nominated for Premier League’s Player of the Season award, with the others being Virgil Van Dijk, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins. Palmer ended up being voted Premier League Young Player of the Season.
La Liga – Jude Bellingham
With the season concluded over the weekend, La Liga announced the winners across various categories. Real Madrid were the most outstanding team, winning the La Liga title and Supercoppa Italiana.
One of the players who played a significant role in Real’s success throughout the campaign was Jude Bellingham. In his debut season, the England international scored 19 goals and managed six assists. He then beat fellow Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior, Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Alexander Sorloth (Villareal) and top scorer Artem Dovbyk to win the La Liga Player of the Season.

Meanwhile, the U23 Player of the Season award went to Barcelona’s youngster Lamine Yamal. The teenager beat the likes of Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao) and Take Kubo (Real Sociedad).
Serie A – Lautaro Martinez
Inter Milan have become a force to be reckoned with in Italian football, thanks to top players such as Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries, Benjamin Pavard and Marcus Thuram.
After leading Inter to Serie A triumph, Martinez was named the league’s MVP. He scored scored 24 goals in 34 league matches and also finished as the top scorer of Serie A. The Young Player of the Season award in Serie A went to Bologna’s Joshua Zirkee.
Bundesliga – Florian Wirtz
After a stellar domestic 2023/24 season, you expect the Player of the Season to be awarded to a Bayer Leverkusen player. Leverkusen won the Bundesliga unbeaten and only suffered their first defeat of the season in the UEFA Europa League final against Atalanta last week.

Several Bayer Leverkusen players impressed, including Victor Boniface, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Granit Xhaka. However, it was Wirtz who was voted the Bundesliga Player of the Season. The German had been named Player of the Month on three occasions (October, December and February). Wirtz will be one of the players to watch at the upcoming Euros tournament.
Victor Boniface, who was Player of the Month for August, has was named Rookie of the Season.
Ligue 1 – Kylian Mbappe

In his final season at PSG, Kylian Mbappe helped the club win all domestic titles – Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champion. He was outstanding just as he has been over the years and claimed his fifth consecutive Ligue 1 Player of the Season award. He was the top scorer in the French league. Throughout the season, the attacker netted a total of 50 goals in 55 games across all competitions.
Mbappe already bid farewell to PSG fans and is expected to sign with La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer transfer window.
