The Cytizens, who won the treble last season, failed to defend the two other titles this campaign

Manchester City trophies increased during the 2023/24 campaign despite them failing to win another treble. The Cytizens were crowned Premier League champions a few days ago but failed to defend the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup titles they won last season.
City were knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals stage by Real Madrid and lost in the FA Cup final on Saturday to Manchester United.
While it might seem to many that Pep Guardiola and his men have had a disappointing season, that’s actually not the case. The Premier League title won last Sunday was City’s third trophy of the season.

Speaking after his side lost the FA Cup final, Man City manager Pep Guardiola said that he was disappointed but reminded fans that they’ve had an extraordinary season.
“The team was there like all the time when we lose we are there. Disappointed today, that is normal from teams who lose finals. But the season has been again extraordinary, fighting for all the trophies in every way. Rest and come back next season.” Guardiola is quoted by Manchester City’s official website.
Manchester City Trophies This Season
Manchester City had a remarkable 2022/23 season, winning the treble. Their successful season started with triumph in the Premier League, followed by FA Cup victory against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium and UEFA Champions League. It was City’s first-ever Champions League triumph in history and they won it after beating Inter Milan 1-0 at Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
They repeated the historic treble in English football, with neighbours Manchester United being the first team to achieve the feat during the 1998-99 campaign.
Fast forward to the start of the 2023/24 season, the Cytizens had opportunities of adding more trophies because of their success in the previous campaign. They could have continued with their silverware streak but lost the Community Shield to Arsenal. Following a 1-1 draw in normal time, the two sides progressed to penalty shootout where Arsenal won 4-1.
City’s next shot at a silverware came on August 6 when they faced last season’s Europa League winners Sevilla in UEFA Super Cup. The match ended 1-1 in regular time and the Cytizens were crowned champions after winning 5-4 on penalties.
Manchester City trophies this season increased when they clinched the FIFA Club World Cup on December 22. Guardiola’s team thumped Brazilian side Fluminense 4-0 in the final of the Club World Cup played at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah.

The 2022/23 season was the best in Man City’s history and many were expecting the incredible run to continue this year.
Premier League Triumph
While City were focusing on completing a remarkable year by winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, the Premier League title race was going against them.
Arsenal and Liverpool were leading the way and it seemed as if City were going to need a miracle to catch up with them. However, Guardiola’s side went on a winning streak and caught up with the two clubs after playing their games in hand.
On Sunday, May 19, Manchester City won the Premier League title after a fierce battle with Arsenal which ended with the Gunners finishing second on the standings. The Cytizens have won four Premier League titles in a row, an achievement which no other team has accomplished.
After winning the league, Man City were hoping they could keep the fire burning by becoming the first English team to complete a domestic double. However, they failed to win the Manchester derby in the FA Cup final despite their neighbours having their worst season since the turn of the century.
