With a few days left before the D-Day, we’ve decided to take a look at the players who have played for both Manchester clubs. From legendary striker Carlos Tevez to Owen Hargreaves, here are ten players who wore both red and blue jerseys during their careers.

1. Carlos Tevez 

The first player who always comes to mind when talking of footballers who have played for both Manchester United and Man City is Carlos Tevez. The Argentine began his journey in the Premier League at West Ham in 2006. The following year he joined Manchester United on a loan deal and spent two seasons in Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad.

After his loan spell came to an end, Tevez decided to continue with his career at Manchester City. He racked up 73 goals and 35 assists, helping the Cytizens win the Premier League title in 2012.

2. Owen Hargreaves 

Whereas many remember Owen Hargreaves for his time at Manchester United, the former midfielder also represented City at some point in his career. He spent the last season of his football career at the Etihad Stadium before later hanging his boots.

3. Peter Schmeichel 

Peter Schmeichel is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers goalkeepers to play in the Premier League. The Dane spent the majority of his career at Old Trafford with whom he won five Premier League titles and then spent his last season as a pro at Man City.

4. Brian Kidd

Brian Kidd most recently served as the assistant manager of Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Prior to becoming a manager, he was a player who started his career at Manchester United. He spent seven years at the club before signing with Arsenal and later Manchester City.

5. Andy Cole

Andy Cole is one of the greatest strikers to ever play for Manchester United. He joined the Red Devils from Newcastle United and achieved great success under Sir Alex Ferguson before leaving for Blackburn Rovers in 2002. He returned to Manchester in 2006 towards the end of his career and signed with City.

6. Denis Law

Denis Law was one of the best players of the last century. He spent the majority of his career days at Man United and has two statues dedicated to him at Old Trafford. He then returned to Man City where he played for a few seasons before ending his career.

7. Andrei Kanchelskis 

Andrei Kanchelskis is one of the most successful Ukrainian footballers having won numerous during his days at Manchester United. He played for the Red Devils from 1991 to 1995 and then signed with Everton. He returned to Manchester in 2001 and spent a season on loan at City.

8. Terry Cooke 

Terry Cooke began his senior career at Manchester United. However, he had to leave on a permanent deal after racking up just seven appearances across all competitions. Prior to his exit, the retired midfielder spent time on loan at various clubs, including Man City.

9. Mark Robbins 

While Mark Robbins may not be a familiar name among fans nowadays, he was a popular figure in the late 1980s and 1990s. Robbins is the man who saved Sir Alex Ferguson’s job at Manchester United in 1990 when he scored in a FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest. His goal saw United secure a 1-0 win and did not only save Sir Alex Ferguson but also ushered in United’s era of dominance under the Scott manager.

Robbins would later secure transfer to City but his spell with the Cytizens wasn’t successful as he struggled with injuries.

10. Jadon Sancho

Concluding the list of players who have represented both sides of Manchester is Jadon Sancho. Currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Manchester United, Sancho took his early steps in football at Man City. While he has played several games for the Red Devils, the England international never played for City’s senior team.
