On Sunday, outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp bid farewell to the supporters at Anfield in a long address. Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Wolves on Klopp’s last match to seal their third place finish in the Premier League.
In the finale of a nine-year ride of Klopp’s reign, Liverpool took the lead in the 34th minute, thanks to Alexis Marc-Allister’s strike. The Reds increased their lead to 2-0 six minutes later with Jarell Quansah being the goalscorer. Despite being in control of the match and Wolves getting reduced to ten men, Liverpool couldn’t add to their two-goal cushion.
Nevertheless, the win was crucial in ensuring Klopp gets the send-off he deserved. He was the centre of attention in Liverpool city on Sunday and the thousand of fans at Anfield showed him love before and after the match.

What Did Klopp Say On His Farewell Speech?
Jurgen Klopp delivered an emotional speech at Anfield on Sunday as he officially said goodbye to the fans. This is the day that Liverpool supporters had been waiting for since the German announced he will be leaving at the end of the season. He said in January that he will be leaving after nine years because of draining energy levels.
While delivering his speech in front of the Liverpool faithfuls, Klopp spoke positively about Liverpool’s current squad.
“I thought I would already in pieces by now but I’m not. But I’m so happy about you all, about the atmosphere, about the game, about being part of this family, about us, how we celebrated this day. It’s incredible… It doesn’t feel like an end. It just feels like a start because I saw a football team full of talent, full of youth, full of creativity, full of desire, full of greed. That’s one part of development.” Klopp is quoted by NBC Sports.
During his time at Liverpool, the club won 299 out of 491 games. He presided over 167 league games at Anfield, losing only 12. His final season brought the Carabao Cup and a third place finish which guarantees them Champions League football next season.
Despite that, Klopp won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and other major trophies in his nine-year stay as manager.
Several of Liverpool players including captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were in tears as Klopp officially exited the pitch as manager of the club for the last time.
What Next For Jurgen Klopp?
Klopp is seeking a private life after officially exiting Liverpool. However, he insists that his managerial work is not yet done. The German stated that he will take a break from football to regain energy and then continue with coaching as “it seems to be a drug”.

Klopp Confirms Liverpool’s Next Manager
As the curtain closed on Klopp’s era, a new beginning was confirmed by the exiting German. Klopp assured Liverpool supporters that Arne Slot is the man who is going to replace him at Anfield, despite lack of official communication by the club.
Klopp led fans in chanting Slot’s name and asked them to back the Dutchman like they did when he joined the club back in 2015. Slot is likely to be confirmed as Liverpool’s next boss in the coming weeks, most likely before the start of pre-season games.
