United is in a ‘destructive state’ under current manager Erik ten Hag who hasn’t been successful in raising the club’s profile.
Ten Hag’s goose started cooking on Monday night after an embarrassing hammering by Crystal Palace 4-0. This was Old Trafford’s 13th gallant loss this season and all fingers point to the Dutch manager who took over from Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
Following this spate of poor performance by United this season, it is imminent that the Dutch manager is exiting Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho is Interested in a Manchester United Return
Mourinho wants to return to England and take over where he left after being fired in 2018 by Manchester United. Multiple sources report that the Portuguese is sending emissaries to put in a good word for him to the management.
He is aware that the club will not reach out although he is a close friend of Sir Jim Ratcliffe who is United’s minority owner.
Ratcliffe is in charge of all football operations which includes filling Ten Hag’s position. United has evaluated potential substitutes for the Dutchman, and Ratcliffe isn’t focused on retaining him.

Mourinho was fired by Roma earlier this year and is looking at taking up a coaching job in one of the top football teams. He maintained that Ten Hag has enjoyed a solid backing at Old Trafford unlike him [Mourinho].
He took over from Louis van Gaal in May 2016 and led United to League Cup and Europa League victories. Despite United finishing second in the Premier League and making it to the FA Cup final during Mourinho’s second season, he recalls not getting enough support during the summer transfer window of 2018.
Before Roma sacked him, he led them to victory in the Europa Conference League in 2022. He also oversaw the team battle it out at the Europa League final, but Sevilla prevailed in a penalty shootout.
Why Did AS Roma Fire Jose Mourinho?
The Serie A club sent Mourinho packing after serving two seasons and a half. This is despite the fact that he won the Europa Conference League in the 2022 season.
Known for his feisty demeanour and tactical acumen, Roma was in ninth position, a considerable decline from their two prior sixth-place positions.
The Serie A results stayed unchanged even though Mourinho provided joy to the club’s supporters by winning the Europa Conference League in his first season.

Disappointing results and rumours of conflict between Mourinho and the players marked the start of his second season and Roma’s performance dipped.
Supporters were also offended by his frequent public criticism of referees and strategies. This likely informed the club’s decision to sack him.
Daniele De Rossi took over as the manager and the team is sixth in Serie A standings, 29 points behind the leaders, Inter with 89 points.
As Ten Hag awaits his fate at the end of the season, he has his biggest match of the season against Arsenal over the weekend.
Arsenal is in the race for a Premier League title for the first time since 2004 but Manchester City who are defending their victory could thwart the Gunners’ dream
Thus, the weekend match against United is of great importance to Arsenal and Ten Hag is also looking at redeeming the team’s image after a serious thrashing by Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood will not return to Old Trafford. Getafe is certain they can obtain Greenwood for another loan for the upcoming season.
They say that Manchester United won’t take Greenwood back and will try to sell him. Greenwood has 10 goals in 32 games across all competitions. Getafe is expected to finish in the top half of La Liga.
